Working with clients within the courts

Many therapists avoid anything court-involved due to the complicated and demanding dynamics involved when dealing with that system. My years as a clinician have included significant work with court personnel and institutions. I am familiar and comfortable with court dynamics and understand that there are times when our clients require support and even testimony for these situations.

As a therapist, I bring this knowledge and understanding to my clinical practice by

  • Incorporating information into client sessions;
  • Understanding what the court is looking for and assisting the clients with successfully navigating the court’s expectations; and
  • Making myself available as an expert providing reports, testimony or consultation when your situation requires this.

Providing testimony in family law and criminal cases

Since 2008 I have been retained by multiple individuals and firms in the metro Washington region to provide testimony in family law and criminal cases. My knowledge and understanding of the many court systems has been very helpful to my clients. My testimony to the Court promotes a more detailed understanding of the client’s situations, behaviors, needs, progress, and options. Please feel free to contact me to discuss details of your needs and to determine if this might be useful to you.
