Teletherapy provides a range of benefits.  The information below lists several from two articles found in MedicalNewsToday and Psychology Today.

Most research suggests that teletherapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. The effectiveness of teletherapy has been documented and includes some of the following benefits:

  • Greater access to care.
  • Lower costs.
  • High satisfaction
  • More privacy

Better public health: The COVID-19 health crisis demonstrates that the ability to seek medical care at home can slow the spread of illness and protect vulnerable populations. Teletherapy allows people to get counseling at home without risking the spread of infection during epidemics and pandemics. See the article from Medical News Today.

An article in Psychology Today notes several additional benefits to teletherapy:

  • More efficient than traditional in-office therapy
  • Greater flexibility in scheduling and adjusting appointments
  • Safety
  • Illness
  • Improved communications
  • Streamlined communication: online billing, scheduling, communication and appointment reminders
  • Access to facilities, food, drink, etc. (your own)
  • Access for remote patients, college students, disabled populations
  • Reduced wait times
  • See the Psychology Today article here.
